The tax engine

One plan for the whole household, not one account at a time.

Most portfolios hold every fund in every account. Mirella decides which account each asset class belongs in, across everything the household owns, and shows what that is worth in dollars.

Four tiers, one household plan

  • Cash first, then high-growth equities in Roth, tax-efficient equities in taxable, and bonds and REITs in traditional IRAs.
  • Your model's weights never change. Only where each class is held does.
  • Location efficiency scores how close the household is to its plan, as it stands and as far as it can get.
  • Held-away, minors' and closed accounts are tracked but never traded.
Every householdFour-tier tax-location engine

Tax alpha you can show, in dollars

  • Each household's tax alpha in dollars and basis points, at its own federal bracket, net investment income tax and state rate.
  • Asset location and this year's harvesting added up, then set beside the fee from your fee schedule.
  • 10, 20 and 30-year projections of what the plan is worth over time.
  • Roth conversions priced bracket by bracket, and sent to Wealthbox as a task.

Every account

$0.00

difference between Mirella and the custodian. Every account ties out to the penny, and automated tests check the math on every release.

The rebalancer

Rebalance in Mirella, not iRebal.

Mirella sees what iRebal does not: the household's plan, every tax lot's gain, and every wash-sale window. So each trade keeps the household on its plan at the lowest tax cost, and approved orders go straight to Schwab.

Trades that know the tax cost

  • A class needs rebalancing when it drifts by the lesser of 5 points or 20% of its target, the same rule on every screen.
  • A rebalance never realizes a net short-term gain across the household.
  • When the wash-sale rule blocks a buy, Mirella buys an approved replacement fund, and swaps back when that costs no tax.
  • Do-not-sell and do-not-trade restrictions hold a position in place, and the plan works around it.
  • Cash holds

Hold cash in an account until a date for a withdrawal. The rebalancer raises it and never spends it.

  • Raise or invest cash

Run a full rebalance, raise cash only, or invest cash only.

  • Your minimums

Set trade minimums by security type. Fractional shares by default.

  • Approvals

Only admins, or members they name, can approve a household's trades.

Tax-loss harvesting

Harvestable losses found with each day's data, and the wash-sale rule checked everywhere.

A daily scan of every taxable lot

  • Each day's Schwab data is scanned for lots with a loss worth taking, $500 or more by default.
  • Every buy in the household is checked, IRAs included, over a 30-day window that is never shortened.
  • Each suggestion names a replacement fund that keeps the household invested in the same asset class.
  • Dismiss one with a reason, and it comes back after 90 days or if the loss grows by a quarter.

AI

AI that works from your numbers, not its guesses.

Plenty of tools now let you chat with your data. Mirella's AI is tied to the same tax engine that builds the plan and the trades, so it can explain why a trade happened, what is worth harvesting, and when a wash-sale window closes.

The Daily Brief

  • Your day on one page: today's meetings from Google Calendar, with one-click meeting prep.
  • Opportunities across your book: losses to harvest, households outside their band, and excess cash.
  • Reviews that are due, with the review-request email already drafted.
  • Open Wealthbox tasks, recent notes and this week's birthdays.
SchwabWealthboxMirella's engineData Agent

The Data Agent

  • Ask about any household in plain English, from a chat page or from any client screen.
  • It runs the engine for you, including what-if changes, and answers with the engine's own results.
  • Meeting prep in one question: recent activity, open action items and portfolio opportunities.
  • Each surface uses the model that scored best in our benchmarks for that job.

Guardrails built in

  • It never does its own math. Every number comes from Mirella's engine in the same answer.
  • It sees exactly what the advisor asking is allowed to see, and nothing more.
  • It never suggests selling a position you have restricted.
  • It drafts Wealthbox notes and tasks, but nothing is posted until an advisor clicks.
  • It places no orders. Trading has its own approval path.
  • It never sees a client's date of birth or the text of your Wealthbox notes.
  • The AI providers keep nothing: zero data retention, with data collection turned off.

Built on what you use

Works with Schwab and Wealthbox, not instead of them.

Mirella sits on top of your custodian and your CRM. There is no new CRM to learn and no reporting suite to migrate.
  • Schwab, connected

Positions, tax lots and cash load from Schwab's daily files, and approved orders go back to Schwab.

  • Wealthbox, both ways

Mirella reads households, contacts, notes and tasks, and writes notes, tasks and contact changes back.

  • Book linking

Mirella proposes which Schwab accounts belong to which Wealthbox household, graded by confidence, for you to confirm.

  • Shared or separate books

Let advisors share one book, or give each one only their own clients. Admins still see the whole firm.

  • Model portfolios

Upload your models from a spreadsheet and assign one to many households at once.

  • Fee schedules

Tiered and marginal schedules, calculated to the cent, with a firm standard and per-household choices.

  • Risk questionnaire

Define your own questionnaire and record a suitability profile for each household.

  • Needs attention

Each household shows what to do next: harvest candidates, contact differences, beneficiary gaps and more.

  • Clean book

Departures, dependents who have outgrown a household, and a data audit keep the book accurate.

How Mirella compares

Better than free, lighter than a suite.

iRebal costs nothing, and the big suites do almost everything. Mirella is built for the firm in between: one that wants household tax management on top of Schwab and Wealthbox, priced per seat.

Security and control

Built for a regulated business.

Every change leaves a record, and nobody sees more than their role allows.
  • Checked on the server

Every page and every request checks who is asking and what they may see. Roles come live from your firm's member list.

  • Sensitive fields encrypted

Dates of birth and tax IDs are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and each firm's integration keys are stored encrypted.

  • A full audit trail

Every change to a household, setting, restriction or approval is recorded, and kept for seven years.

  • Approvals that fail closed

If Mirella cannot confirm who may approve, nobody can. A trade never goes out on a guess.

  • A safe demo book

Demo mode shows only a sample household and blocks real client data, so you can train and present safely.

  • No passwords stored

Sign-in is handled by a dedicated identity provider. Mirella never stores a password.

How we build

  • Built with a firm, not for a market

Every feature ships against a real advisor's daily work, starting with Bright Road Wealth Management.
